Furniture, children rough-housing, and repairmen needing to access pipes, all can cause damage to walls, and result in the need for repair. During the spring Global Mission Team to Congo Brazzaville, the seven team members patched many holes, large and small, but in this case the damage was caused by bullets and conflict.

The Salvation Army: Partners in Mission Next-Steps: Kalamazoo Corps

The Kalamazoo Corps began its partnership with Malawi about three years ago when the Partners in Missions Next-Steps Pilot Program was launched. What began as a one week youth group mission trip has developed into a partnership between the two locations which is now in its eighteenth year. Through the years there have been many leadership changes both at the Oakbrook Terrace Corps and the Freeport Corps, but the ministry partnership has continued through prayer, the sharing of resources, and an annual mission trip to the Freeport Corps.

The Salvation Army: Global Mission Team: Haiti

What started as a mission trip to Haiti, a nation still reeling in the havoc of disaster and chaos, has transformed into a mission journey of my own heart.

The Salvation Army: Chili & Soup + Auction + Bidders = Success for Missions

On Friday Night, March 11, the Women's Ministries groups of the St. Joseph, MO Corps hosted its second Chili/Soup Cook-off and Auction with all funds raised going to World Missions.

The Salvation Army: A Renewed Vigor this Lenten Season

The Salvation Army: Haiti...where hope is life!

Before the shocking destruction of the 7.0 earthquake that struck on January 12, 2010, Haiti was already struggling with 70% unemployment, a 15% infant mortality rate, a fragile government plagued by corruption, and few public services for its citizens.

The Salvation Army: What’s Your Number?

One fifth of the world's population lives on US $1 per day or less. The corps took a silent survey to nominate three corps members who they would like to see kiss a pig. For six weeks, three counter kettles labeled with those individuals’ pictures were on display. The congregation voted for the individual they would like to see kiss the pig by depositing money into the kettle displaying that person’s picture. The kettle containing the most money at the end of the six weeks determined which person would have to kiss the pig! At a family picnic after the Sunday Holiness meeting on September 26, the pig was revealed and since Lt. Michael Sjogren’s kettle had the most money in it, he had to kiss the pig. Through this fun and memorable fundraiser, the corps raised $275.00 for World Services!

The Salvation Army: Project 24/29 Pakistan

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.” 1 John 3:16-20.

The Salvation Army: Partners in Mission: Bound Together in Love

“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” (1 Cor. 12:12, 27) To be honest, I doubted that this truth could be lived out amongst a group of such diverse individuals. We came from different backgrounds, were all different ages, lived in different cities, and were heading to a place where only one of us had traveled before. In August, the Western Division sent a group of 13 people to work alongside the officers and soldiers of Moldova, a Partner in Mission country of the Central Territory. Of course, my doubts were proven wrong as I witnessed God’s love dissipate language barriers and truly unite the global body of Christ.

The Salvation Army: Kenya West Global Mission Team

The Salvation Army: Sponsorship Highlight - Congro Brazzaville

The Salvation Army: Global Village 2010

The Salvation Army: SMT 2009: Seeing God at work around the world

The Salvation Army: Share Your Christmas Joy

The Salvation Army: Meeting our Partners in Mission

The Salvation Army: Kids Helping Kids

"Kids helping kids." During my visit at Joyville, along with the Summer Mission Team, the home administrator Captain Debbie Messenger took time to explain a bit about the children, the home, and the family atmosphere at Joyville. The stories she shared about how the children came to live at the home were humbling, emotional and encouraging.
