Released 5 January 2010
Michigan’s own Garden Fresh Gourmet, Dick Purtan of
104.3 WOMC and The Salvation Army have teamed up to raise money for the Bed
& Bread Club!
In stores now,
Purtan’s
Special Limited Edition Mango Peach Salsa is a
sweet and spicy treat, with mango and habanero peppers, accented by a kiss of
honey and a touch of ginger, created with love by Garden Fresh Gourmet
president and founder Jack Aronson. The preservative-free, all-natural salsa
is available now at Kroger and anywhere else Garden Fresh Gourmet is usually sold, including any
stores serviced by Lipari Foods. A two-pint jar retails for $5.99 – $2
less than the regular two-pint price.
Don’t wait to pick up
a jar (or a whole case!) – this limited special edition will only be in
stores through February.
A full 100 percent of the profits will
directly support The Salvation Army Bed & Bread Club, as part of the 23rd
annual Dick Purtan Radiothon, set for Feb. 26, 2010 at Oakland Mall in Troy.
The Bed & Bread Club feeds and shelters the hungry and homeless
of metropolitan Detroit 365 days a year, through mobile feeding trucks in the
community, and at many of The Salvation Army’s service centers throughout
the area.
Aronson, a longtime Salvation Army supporter, hopes to
raise $100,000 for The Salvation Army through this limited edition item. It's
perfect for post-holiday parties, Super Bowl shindigs, Valentine’s Day
soirees and everyday eating.
“We are so blessed that 100
percent of the money raised at the Dick Purtan Radiothon each year goes
directly to help feed the hungry and house the homeless on the streets of
Detroit through The Salvation Army Bed & Bread Club,” said
Major John Turner, General Secretary for The Salvation Army’s Eastern
Michigan Division.
“Receiving 100 percent of the funds
raised through Purtan’s Special Salsa helps us fulfill this important
mission. The Salvation Army is truly fortunate to have such dedicated, generous
partners,” he added.
Purtan’s Special features
an
eye-catching caricature of the radio personality as well as information about
all the good The Salvation Army Bed & Bread Club does in southeast
Michigan.
“I can’t thank Garden Fresh Gourmet enough
for their incredibly generous support of the Bed & Bread Club,”
Purtan said, host of 104.3 WOMC’s Dick Purtan and Purtan’s People
morning show. “Jack’s dedication is a true testament to the caring
spirit that has earned our community its place as one of the most charitable
group of people in the country.”
Last year’s Dick
Purtan Radiothon raised nearly $2.3 million for the Bed & Bread Club.
